Full Tilt Online Poker Series
May 7, 2009
The Full Tilt Online Poker Series started yesterday.
Due to the time difference i couldent play the first event, because it started at 3 in the night.
Today event 2 is being played, the $240 Omaha HI Pot Limit Knock Out tournament with a $250.000 guaranteed prizepool.
$200 goes to the prizepool, and then you get $40 when you knock out a player from the tournament.
If you eliminate one of the full tilt pros, then you get a $200 bounty.
Omaha PL is one of my favorite games, and i have been looking forward to this event at full tilt poker.
I get a great start and increase my starting stack of 5000 to 16.000 in the first 30min putting me in 3rd place. I had forgotten to start writing this review, so i cant remember the exact hands, but it was several minor pots.
After 40 minutes a big pot takes place when im being dealt A-A-7-8 double suit.
Im in middle possition and just limb in so i dont give away my aces if i hit a set, and a double suited hand with 2 aces is a great hand to see a flop with.
I hit the nuts on the flop with 8-q-3 suited on the board. We are 3 players on the flop, and there is a 200 bet before me which i just call, and so does the last guy. Turn now brings a 10 of the same suit, and i instantly think that this make a straigh flush possible. First player bets out 500 and i now raise pot incase someone is drawing for a house. Last player instantly calls my bet and the raiser folds. He moves all in on the river when a 2 hits, which dosent change anything. Offcourse i dont fold in this spot although im afraid of the straight flush, and sure enough he flips 9-j and i loose a 12.500 pot that would have given me a great chiplead in the tournament.
Im still at 10.000 though, so i just need to calm down and move on.
Im home alone with my 18 months old son, and he helps me out as he starts crying for a bottle giving me a 10 min break, and when i return the first break in the tournament starts.

I shouldent really be surprised by the number of “fish” in this tournament, but i am. After all its a $240 buyin, but the way people play is redicilous. There is no room for advanced moves, and i just sit tight as a rock and wait for a good spot. I take down some smaller pots, and apart from that nothing much happens the second hour of the tour and im at 14.000 in chips when the second break starts.
568 players remain out of 1218.
Largest stack is 47.000 and average stack is 10.700
Blinds now start at 240-120
I have spotted a terrible player sitting a few seats before me, and i hope i get a chance to get some action from him. He keeps accumulating chips, but unfortunately he dosent last long, and he busts before i get a chance to take some of hes chips.
With blinds level of 12 minutes, its a pretty fast tournament and my stack dosent seem as much after 40 minutes after the second break where i got 12.000 and blinds are 500-250 so i hope to get a big pot soon to take of some of the pressure. Im not crazy low, but soon i will have to make a move to double up.
My “tight as a rock” and wait for a monster hand strategy seems to fail.
We have now played for 3 hours and its time for the 3rd break.
My stack is now 11.000 and blinds are 600-300.
The first 2 hands i get k-k-x-x and call the pot raises to hit the flop. It dosent happen, and im at 9000.
I feel the desperation and i really need a double up now, just to hit the average stack.
8-9-10-A doubble suit and i call a pot raise to see a flop, thats totally blank. Blinds go up to 800-400 and i got 6700. I now feel that its only a matter of time before someone put me out of my misery.
With A-Q-10-3 doubble suit i feel its time to put in the rest of my chips, and i get up against K-K-J-4 doubble suit. One of the suits i got covered. I spike the ace on the flop, and that doubbles me up to 15.000
Its still only half of the average stack, so the chips needs go get back to work again soon.
Blinds have now increased to 1000-500 and after a few rounds im down to 10.000 in chips.
It time to get in the action again, and A-A-9-6 double suit seems like a hand that could do the job. I raise pot in early possition and get a reraise from the big blind. I call with the rest of my chips of course.
He shows A-Q-J-2 double suit and the flop comes J-J-8 rainbow giving him a set.
Pretty brutal, and im thinking its over but the turn brings a beautiful ace and i scoop the pot with aces full. Im now at 21.000 and blinds increase to 1200-600.
Average stack is 37.000 so im still way behind.
We are getting close to the money though. 135 gets paid, and we are 156 left.
Its time for another break and im down to 15.000
143 player are still in the game, and im in 122 position, and blinds are 1600-800.
I will wait for 8 more to get knocked out so i make the money, and then i should still be left with 10k to make a recovery and win it all…!
It dosent take long before we hit the money and i got 13.000 left.
Im ready to do some flipping and start to increase my stack.
Im on the button when i pick up K-K-9-9 double suit. Everybody folds to the guy before me who bets pot. I thinks its a good spot to push my stack, and i do.
He shows A-J-10-7 with no suit, and i win the pot with my kings bringing me up to 28k.
Next time im in big blind, i get a free flop with 4-6-9-J and hit the nut straight, but with 2 suited cards. I check to big blind who bets half the pot, and i then raise the pot. He folds and im at 33k, giving me some room to relax.
Blinds increase to 2400-1200.
Like always when you hit the money, peoples starting hand requirements go drasticly down and the field thins out fast.
Although im still at less than half of average, im not in a hurry.
Nothing happens for awhile, and my stack slowly decreses to 22.000. I then take down a small pot and have 34.000 on the button. There is a very loose maniac on my right with a huge stack and hes involved in every hand. Everybody folds to him and he bets pot. Blinds are 4000-2000 and i look at A-A-Q-2 with one suit, and its a easy decition to push my stack. He instantly calls and shows A-10-10-4 with one suit. An ugly 10 hits the flop, and hes trips finish me off. I would have been in good shape with 72k, but i guess it just wasent meant to be. Im pretty happy with the result though in the first event, and experience is always nice. I finish 63rd and get $512 for my effort.
I look forward to playing another Full Tilt Poker FTOPS event, but i havent decieded which one i will play next yet.

My first tournament
December 19, 2008
My first tournament ever on Aced poker
Written by cowboyrazz26
It’s a 5 dollar rebuy with 81 players, and its my first time paying at aced.com.
The first thing I noticed was that I can’t make a rebuy from the beginning of the tour – only when you loose all your chips.
I’m a bit disappointed with this, because this is one of the reasons why I love a rebuy tournament. There’s always someone who doesn’t see the advantage of starting with a double stack. But of course I’m counting on winning anyway… ?
Starting stack is 2000.
The first hand I play is J9. 2 players before me limp 20 and I do the same. BB now raises to 100, and the two players before me call, so I take a chance to see if I get lucky. Flop is Q4T.
Everybody checks to me and I bet half pot 200. I get one call and a blank turn. He checks again, and I figure I can’t bet him out with another medium bet, so I take the free river. I hit a lovely king on the river, and now he bets 280 in the pot worth 800. He has about 800 left, so I put him all in. He folds and I’ve now got 2740 chips.
Blinds are now 50-100. I pick up AJ clubs.
One guy calls and I raise it to 450 from the button. The flop is totally blank – three small cards.
He checks it and I make a bet on the flop and steal the pot.
The hand right after this I get AQ off. I raise it to 350, and the guy I just bluffed moves all in. I suspect him for being on tilt, but when another guy calls him, I figure my AQ is no good.
To my surprise the caller shows JQ and the initial raiser shows QQ. So my read that he was on tilt was not right. Good thing another guy decided to call him?
Blinds are still 50-100 and I’ve got 2600. I make a limp in early position with AQ hearts.
We are 4 to the flop AK2 with two hearts. Not the worst flop for me?. First man bets 200, and I decide just to call. Heads up to the turn 10. He now bets 100, and I raise him to 600 – he calls. River 4 of hearts gives me the nuts. He checks and I bet the rest of his stack. I actually expected a call, but he didn’t. I now have 3800 chips.
The next hand I win a race with 99 against a short stack with KQ and advance to 4300 chips.
The blinds goes up to 75-150 and I pay to see a couple of flops with AJ and 77 but don’t hit anything, and I now have 3800 chips. I get A2 in small blind. There is one call from early position, so I call too. Flop is A77. I check this, because I’m almost certain that if BB checks too, the last guy has to bet. I’m only afraid of the 7. If he has got the ace, it’s most likely a small ace, and I can probably get a split pot then. He bets 200 and I call. Turn is a 10, and I check again, because I still can’t put him on a better hand. He checks too, and the river is a K. Now I think I have to bet, because he will probably check again if I do. I bet 500 and he folds. I now have 4600 chips, and it’s time for the break. With my add-on I now have 6600 chips.
Blinds are now 125-250 and we have played one round after the brake. I look at J6 spades in the small blind. I get a cheap flop with 3 others. Flop is 79Q with two spades. I’m first to act, and bet 750 in the 1000 pot. First two players fold, and I get a nasty click raise from the last player.
If I call this there will be 4000 in the pot. He has 2000 left, so I know I have to hit on the turn if I call, because he most likely will push on the turn. I decide to fold. I think a lot about this hand.
I actually regret I didn’t pay the 750 to see if the spade came. But the hand is over, and I have to move past it.
Stack: 5600
I get a lot of cold cards now, and the blinds are getting bigger and bigger every 10 minutes.
I try to make a steal with K8 in cut-off position. But BB calls and moves all in on a blank flop to my K8.
I now have 4300 and with the blinds going up to 250-500 and a 25 ante, I’m beginning to look for an all in hand.
This is exactly what I get in my next big blind.
I look at AA, and just hope somebody wants to play. I don’t get a lot of action though.
Button makes a call and small blind folds. I decide to check, because I really want to double up here, and I don’t think he would call all in pre flop. I flop the nuts with an ace on the flop and to small cards.
I check it, and he bets 500. I think for a while and smooth call it. My hand is still the nuts on the turn, but some flush and straight draws are possible. I check it again, and he bets 500 once again.
I make a click raise to try to provoke him into a bluff. But he doesn’t take the bait, and I take the pot down. I now have 5900.
The hand right after this I get a tough decision.
I get AQ in the small blind, and my first thought is that I have to push almost no matter what.
UTG limps, and then there’s a click raise to 1000. I really don’t like this situation, and I think it over for a long time. My conclusion is that I can hardly dominate both players, so I decide to fold. They end up all in pre flop with 66 and 1010. Turns out it was a good thing I folded as a 6 shows on the flop. But that was definitely a hand I could have played with my short stack.
Third playable hand in a row – I get 1010 on the button. There’s one call, so with almost 1500 in the pot, I think it’s obvious to move all in. I pick up the pot and I now have 7300.
I now get moved to another table.
We are 28 players left and I’m number 19. Chip leader has 60000. On the button I get J10 suited, and as everybody folds to me, I choose to try to steal the blinds. I push my 6800 chips, but get a call from BB. He has 4500 chips, so I have him covered. He shows A8. Flop 78K – turn 7 – river J. Beautiful river and I’m in the game again with 13000. Number 12/26.
I begin to pick up some hands and manage to win some blinds with AJ and twice with AQ.
Then I get QQ in late position. Blinds are 750-1500, so I raise it to 4500. Button moves all in with 5000 chips, so an easy call. He has A8. He hits the ace on the flop, but a pretty lady hits the turn, and he is drawing dead. I now have 23000 chips.
Blinds 30… It’s getting very expensive to see a flop, and very nice to take any pot now. With 8-6 in the small blind and a call from the button I pay 1500 to see the flop. BB checks and the flop is 775. I’m first to act, and move instant all in. Both players fold and I get a sweet pot and reach 30000 chips.
Finale table!
The very first hand I get on the final table is AK in early position.
Since I’ve just got 10 big blinds, I push all in pre flop and everybody folds to the chip leader in BB. He thinks for about 2 seconds and calls with A10. A bold call, but he had 120000 chips, so I guess you could defend that call. Luckily no 10’s show on the board and I get a very nice double up. I’m now second in chips with my 60000 and things start to look very good.
I get 66 and raise it from middle position. The player after me moves all in, and the chip leader reraises all in. Obviously I have to fold my 6’s. They show QQ and JJ, and the chip leader gets lucky with a flush on one of his jacks. 9 players left and my stack is 50000. In my small blind I get KQ suited, and the BB has 10000 chips. Everybody folds over to me, so I have to push all in. Being committed BB calls with J4. A 4 on the flop and another one on the turn give him the double up, and I’m now just below 40000.
A round with cold cards, and I am getting closer and closer to 30000 chips again, so I figure I have to make a move soon.
I pick up the speed limit 55 – UTG limps 4000 with 20000 left. Hoping that he will fold, I move all in. There’s still a good chance that it’s a coin flip if he calls. This is exactly what I get. He shows J10 and hits the jack on the turn. It’s an annoying hand to loose, because I don’t like the play from the other guy. If he wants to play J10 UTG he should move all in instead of limping for a fifth of his stack. But that’s poker. I now have 8000 left, and look at KQ suited on the next hand. Though there’s a guy with only 2000 chips, I decide to move in anyway. I’m not interested in the 8th place. Little did I know that another guy picked up kings, and he eliminates me in the 9th place. 30 dollars paid for the effort. A poor comfort. But still an okay result overall.

Tournament review – A new poker site
December 19, 2008
1000$ guranteed 5$ nl holdem rebuy tournament at aced poker
Starting chips 2000
Players registered 81
A new us friendly poker site has been launched, and i wanted to tjeck it out to see if it was something i could recommend.
The first thing i notice is that you cant rebuy right away. You have to be at 0 to rebuy, and you rarely see those rules in a rebuy tournament. I guess i prefer it the other way becuse its an easy edge on the players who dont rebuy.
For a second I dont pay attention enough to the game, and get myself in a situation where i try and bluff a shortstack. When he reraises me im pot commited with my 2 overcards, but he shows trips, so ive lost half my stack.
With k-j on the button, i make a pot raise to 225. Flop comes 6-10-3 and there is 500 in the pot so i push my stack. Opponent folds, and i take down a pot.
Then a bit later i look at 4-4. Blinds are now 100-50 and there is one caller and i also limb. One more calls and then the button makes it 300. The first limber now goes allin with 1800 and i sure that im beat. There must be atleast an overpair and two high cards or something like that and i fold. Button calls and shows Q-A suited but the other guy shows K-2 off. I would have hit trips and won, but 9 out of 10 times, you are way behind in this situation.
Not long after I get A-Q suited in the big blind. With 3 limbers in the pot, i move all in. To my surprise I get a call from 10-8 suited, and he hits trips on the flop. I now make a rebuy, and im back to 2000 in chips.
Blinds now get raised and with my new “earned” chips im ready to get involved in the battle again. First mission will be winning with q-9 suited. One player has limped, and I follow in hes footsteps. 2 more players join us to see a flop that comes Qs-7s-2h. Now to my defense, im writing at the same time im playing, and sometimes there is not much time left, so quick action is required. The first limber makes a 600 bet, and i push my stack. The next player moves all in with 6000 instantly, and then the original raiser also calls. The 6000 all in shown A-7 off (middle pair, no draw!!!) and the other player shows Q-10.
The the best situation to be in, but with a 9 on the river, iim all the sudden on the top with 6000.
We now go to break shortly after, and after the addon i have 7700 in chips.
Blinds are 250-125.
After the break my cards just go totally cold, and its not untill 30 minutes in, that i get a small steal with A-8s
I then get jacks twice but with no action, and A-Q with no action.
Then 15min before the next break with 600-300 blinds and 7000 in chips, i look at AA.
I have been writing though, when i see it my turn, so i quickly just make a click raise. A player had limped before me, and is the only one that calls. Flop comes j-8-8 and i bet half the pot. He moves all in, and i call. He shows 8-5 suited and has hit miracle trips. Too bad i dident know how much time i had, i would have made a bigger raise, but then again. Its just really unlucky to loose to that crappy a hand.
Im out finishing 34th
The software is ok, but really nothing special and there are not many players online. I dont see why anybody would want to play there, when you can play the pros at full tilt poker which is also us friendly and have a 1000% more games to choose from. Aced is running on the merge pokernetwork like alot of other small rooms but this network seems to stand still. I wouldent recommend this room unless you like a poker room with a small field of players.
